ICONICA was responsible for developing the lighting concept and complete lighting design for the mosque’s façade and surrounding landscape. Located on the New Middle Ring Road, the mosque is considered one of the largest and most significant mosques in the world. It has a total capacity of approximately 17,000 worshippers, including the main prayer hall, the basement prayer areas, and the outdoor prayer spaces. The mosque is built on a total site area of approximately 106 feddans, equivalent to around 445,500 square metres. ICONICA’s lighting concept was carefully developed to enhance the mosque’s architectural identity, highlight the scale and elegance of its façade, and create a welcoming and spiritually appropriate landscape environment. The design focused on achieving visual harmony, balanced illumination, and a strong nighttime presence while respecting the sacred character of the mosque.
